Psalms 123

Our Eyes Look to the Lord Our God

A Song of aAscents.

1 To you I blift up my eyes,
O you who are centhroned in the heavens!
2Behold, as the eyes of servants
look to the hand of their master,
as the eyes of a maidservant
to the hand of her mistress,
so our eyes look to the Lord our God,
till he has mercy upon us.
3 dHave mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us,
for we have had more than enough of econtempt.
4Our soul has had more than enough
of fthe scorn of gthose who are at ease,
of the contempt of hthe proud.

Psalms 143:6

6 iI stretch out my hands to you;
jmy soul thirsts for you like ka parched land.  Selah

Joel 2:17-20

17 lBetween the mvestibule and the naltar
olet the priests, the ministers of the Lord, weep
and say, “Spare your people, O Lord,
and make not your heritage a reproach,
a byword among the nations.
Or  reproach, that the nations should rule over them

qWhy should they say among the peoples,
Where is their God?’”

The Lord Had Pity

18 rThen the Lord became jealous for his land
sand had pity on his people.
19The Lord answered and said to his people,
Behold, tI am sending to you
grain, wine, and oil,
uand you will be satisfied;
and I will no more make you
a reproach among the nations.
20 “I will remove the northerner far from you,
and drive him into a parched and desolate land,
his vanguard
Hebrew face
into wthe eastern sea,
and his rear guard
Hebrew  his end
into ythe western sea;
zthe stench and foul smell of him will rise,
for he has done great things.
